Jesus is My Counselor

There is a hopelessness in the air.  It weighs heavily upon us each day.  We keep ourselves busy so as not to notice or fear and anxiety would overtake our lives spiraling us into despair and depression.  But for those who are believers in Jesus the Christ, who have been born-again by His Holy Spirit, there is an eternal hope which has been infused into our lives.  Jesus did not leave us to spiritually flounder in the confusion of the lost world.  He has given us all we need to live our lives in this world and to live it godly.  He has made promises to His followers and He is the eternal Promise Keeper.

“seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.  For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.” 2 Peter 1:3-4

He has given us His Spirit to guide and instruct us each day with wisdom from above.

“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on  His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.  He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.” John 16:13-14

He has given us His Word through which He is revealed to us and we can know Him and understand Him, His thoughts and His ways.

”All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”2 Timothy 3:16-17

When I think of the Word of God, when I read the Word of God, when I listen to the Word of God, I always think of ACCEE.  Whenever the Word of God is spoken or heard it should Admonish us in our lifestyle, it should Convict us of disbelief and disobedience, it should Challenge us to change and adjust our life, it should Encourage us to live holy and righteous, and it should Equip us to do so.

If we regularly spend time reading and meditating on the Word of God we will be amazed in the change the Holy Spirit affects in our life.  We will begin to think like Jesus and to behave like Jesus.

”I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:1-2

He will counsel and direct us in every area of life.  The love of Jesus will be manifested through His Spirit in our spirit, our mind, our emotions, our body, our relationships.  He will be manifested throughout our life.

“I will bless the Lord who has counseled me; indeed, my mind instructs me in the night. I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will dwell securely.”

Psalm 16: 7-9

Let us spend time with Jesus, think like Jesus, live like Jesus, and be like Jesus as we spend time in His Word and in His Spirit.

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
