Flourishing

Earlier I shared with you about the water restrictions here in Brunswick County because of the lack of rain.  Watering your yard has been banned now for over a month.  We have had very little rain to speak of.  But let me take you back to last fall.  I have been told that I need to put lime on my yard in the fall of each year.  It is supposed to do something to the roots of the grass over the winter.  I have never done this but this last fall I decided to give it a try.  Then I put out some fertilizer in the spring.  Well, I don’t know which affected my grass, but my neighbors have brown yards with patches of green here and there.  I have a thick green yard with a few brown patches.  I am not sure what happened, but I am thankful.

A born-again believer’s life is much like this.  We can face droughts in our life where we seem to be dry and withered.  A listless, moody, and unmotivated spirit can face us almost daily.  Life can really get us down.  People say, ‘that is life, get used to it.’

This dreary approach to our days should not be the norm for a Christian nor acceptable to them.  Jesus sent His Spirit to be with and indwell each of His disciples.  He is our help and our daily life.  We must allow Him to daily apply Yahweh’s word and power to our life.  If we daily submit to His direction and guidance our days will be filled with the joy of the Lord, hope in the Lord, and boldness in every opportunity.  He indeed will shine down upon us as He changes our mindset, our focus, and our countenance.

“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”Numbers 6:24-26

“He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water.” Psalms 107:35

“Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, O well!—Sing to it!—“Numbers 21:17

“that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,” Acts 3:20

We can live in a spiritual drought in spiritual vigor, full and blessed by the Holy Spirit of the Lord God Almighty.  Be blessed today as you allow the Holy Spirit of Jesus to lead you through this day filling it with His grace and goodness.  Abide in Him.

Because Jesus loves us
