Like many heart patients I have a daily regimen of taking on low dose aspirin for my heart health. The daily little pill causes me to very easily bruise and or bleed when I fall or bump into something. How does this little pill each day accomplish this alarming disturbance to my day when I get bumped? What a low dose aspirin does is act as an antiplatelet agent which makes platelets in my blood less sticky and reduces their ability to form unwanted blood clots.
A regular dose of the Word of the Lord God Almighty and the humbling of my spirit to His Spirit is like a daily low dose aspirin. It becomes an anti-sin agent in my soul which makes temptation to my flesh less likely to occur.
“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Psalm 119:11
The Word of God was inspired by the Holy Spirit of God and thus they work in conjunction in a born-again believer’s life.
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
The Holy Spirit takes the truth of the Word of God and speaks it into a born-again believer’s life.
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” John 16:13-14
The Holy Spirit takes the Word of God warning and guarding against spiritual temptations and attacks in a born-again believer’s life.
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:” Ephesians 6:17
The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to transform and sanctify the born-again believer’s life.
“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
The Lord God Almighty’s desire for us is His Spirit and His Word working mightily within us to sanctify us into the image of His dear Son, Jesus. Let them work.
Because Jesus loves us,
