Fervent Service
In our service in the Lord’s Kingdom work we must be diligent in our ministry to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. To be diligent is to show steady, earnest, and careful effort in our work, duties and life.
Not only should we be diligent, carefully working on behalf of Jesus, but we must also be fervent in our service. Fervent is having or showing a very strong sincere, and enthusiastic feeling or passion for something. The careful effort we put into our work needs to be matched with a sense of enthusiasm and passion for what Jesus has us doing for Him.
“not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;” Romans 12:11
This spirit of fervency emboldens us to witness and teach about Jesus and our great need for His saving grace. Fervency is a matter of our great love for Jesus which moves us beyond ourselves in concern for others.
“This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John;” Acts 18:25
This fervent spirit in which we love Jesus fills us with a love which is fervently extended to others.
“Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8
A fervent love for Jesus and others infiltrates our prayer life and fills our prayers with fervent expectancy as we await answers to our calling upon Jesus.
”Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16
If we are to be strong minded about anything it must be having a mind set on the Spirit and His presence and work in others. We sincerely set our minds to the work of the Kingdom as well as other Kingdom servant which we find in the Body of Christ.
”And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.” 2 Corinthians 7:7
Today be diligent and fervent in all which you are given to do on behalf of the Kingdom of Heaven. Serve with all your might enthusiastically anticipating great and awesome things from our Heavenly Father.
